Power Systems

Distant Curve specialises in working in remote areas, minesites and places that are otherwise 'off the grid'. This has led us to develop 'highly available' (otherwise known as redundant or N+1) remote area AC and DC power solutions including solar, wind, UPS and hybrid generator / solar / wind solutions.

Our systems utilise bleeding edge equipment and intelligent industrial control systems combining leading control components (Hirschmann, Moxa, Allen Bradley) with photovoltaic arrays to guarantee 'always on' power. Our systems can be adapted and scaled for almost any need.

We've designed our systems to be elegant but intelligent - the guiding principle in our design is to have the systems self heal - 'fix the problem first, remedy the fault later'. Our typical design sends you an email after a fault has been detected, and remedied.

A very simple example of this concept in action is the unique 'POP' (point of presence) design we use for powering our microwave links. The system is designed with redundancy throughout - N+1. Dual isolated power supplies, battery banks, solar arrays, solar chargers - each controlled by a data-connected central monitoring and control unit that monitors correct operation and springs into action to seamlessly 'cutover' to the redundant supply - with the option to automatically start a genset if all else fails... and then let you know what it's done.
